How was Donate an Hour created?

Newcastle Airport developed Donate an Hour to support its Charity of Choice, the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation. The Airport has selected the Foundation as its chosen charity following staff and volunteer members being diagnosed with this disease.

For the past five years Newcastle Airport has held a Charity Golf Day and to raise money for the Foundation, and has handed over $165,000.

In late 2013, the Airport was looking for a new way to engage the local community in supporting its chosen charity. That’s when the idea of Donate an Hour was conceived. The Airport worked with the Foundation to develop the idea and in May 2014 was delighted to launch this website.

Newcastle Airport has paid for all the development, backend and set-up costs for this website to ensure that all monies raised go directly to the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation to help them deliver their services.

Is my donation tax deductible, and do I get a receipt?

Yes! All donations of $2 or more are tax-deductable. Donations to ‘Donate an Hour’ (Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation) has tax-deductible Gift Recipient Status and is endorsed by the ATO as an income tax exempt charity.

Where is my receipt?

When you completed your donation, we emailed to you your receipt. If you haven’t received it yet, check your junk or spam folders. If not, send us an email with your name, address and donation amount and we’ll be able to help you.

I’ve changed my mind about my donation

We really appreciate your donation and all donations are final. For legal reasons, once you’ve received a tax deductible receipt, we can’t refund your donation simply because you’ve changed your mind.
Before you hit ‘donate’ on our payment page, we recommend you check that you’re happy with the amount your donating to this cause. If you believe that an unauthorised donation has been made from one of your payment methods, you should contact your financial institution.
